Exciting news! 🚀 With fresh funding from LU Innovation - Sustainability Fund, we're kicking off an exciting pilot project that will empower researchers and forest management experts with state-of-the-art tools to uncover ancient agricultural systems in southern Scandinavia. 🌲✨ This initiative showcases how digital archaeology is becoming a key player in the rapidly growing field of Environmental Humanities. Stay tuned for updates! #Sustainability #Innovation #DigitalArchaeology #EnvironmentalHumanities #ForestManagement

The project in a nutshell

The project is a collaboration between the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History, the Digital Archaeology Laboratory and İstanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Geophysical Engineering. It will run between October 2024 and March 2025 with the aim of developing an advanced AI-based tool for the semi-automatic detection of well-defined classes of archaeological features in the Scandinavian forest land. This pilot project will hopefully pave the way for the development of a web-based application to be designed at a later stage.
