We are excited to announce that DARKLab is collaborating with the Tharros Project, led by the University of Cincinnati, under the direction of Prof. Steven Ellis, with field operations overseen by Prof. Eric Poehler (UMASS). The Tharros Project, focusing on the Punic-Roman city of Tharros on the western shores of Sardinia, has recently embarked on new archaeological fieldwork. This initiative is in partnership with the Soprintendenza per i Beni archeologici delle province di Cagliari e Oristano, the Direzione Regionale Musei Sardegna, Comune di Cabras, and the Fondazione Mont'e Prama. For more information on the Tharros Project, please visit their website.

Our participation in this project is through the European project TETRARCHs (Telling Stories with Archaeological Data). Our focus is on testing new methods for sharing, reusing, and publishing archaeological data via advanced 3D visualisation web systems. Dr. Paola Derudas is leading this part of the project for the Lund University Digital Archaeology Laboratory. Specifically, we are utilising the Archaeological Interactive Reports (AIR) system to publish data recorded during field investigations in real-time and with the highest detail. You can access this system online and in full 3D here.
